Show Updates

We are pleased to announce that through the assistance of Poppy Cakes who will be attending this years show with a selection of delicious goodies to buy; our chosen charity for 2016 is Cats Protection.

We would like to reiterate that this facility is not a bring and buy but a pre-booked table sale and is not for commercial traders, but is for individuals or groups wanting to sell off used or unwanted items from their own collections. A few tables remain for Saturday or Sunday, so if your thinking of hiring don’t delay and book now! Furthermore the contents of these stalls will not be insured by TMS!

Entrants information page
The page containing all the information for exhibitors traders and stewards has now been launched on this site and may be found at the bottom of the 2016 show page. In conjunction with our telephone interview process we believe this makes The Model Show the first truly paperless exhibition?

Trade update
We currently have vacancies for trade stands selling War-gaming products, Miniatures and radio control. We regret that we currently have no vacancies for trade stands selling model railway trains, die-cast vehicles, tools and adhesives, used railway books or toys. New content for 2016!
By prior arrangement only (BEFORE 1ST OCTOBER) we can provide a room (squash court) for any modelling based interest group, club or association to hold a one day event to either promote their own interests or to have a modelling seminar or operate a combined project such as a ‘modular’ model railway for example. This may be on Saturday or Sunday and will be booked by email on a ‘first confirmed’ basis annually. You may set up the evening prior but must vacate the room ASAP at close of the show. There is no fee for room hire and a percentage of your attendees (maybe those doing the work or providing the models for example) will gain free admission, a sandwich based lunch and tea or coffee as exhibitors for the day in question. All other attendees will be paying visitors to the show (depending upon numbers anticipated we can offer a ‘pre-paid only’ entry discount to large groups) all of which is calculated on a case by case basis and relayed to you by email. You may close the room (pre-arranged/published times only) for 1 hour during the day to hold an administrative meeting of your members, otherwise the room must be accessible and suitably organised to permit the safe entry of The Model Shows paying visitors during the shows open hours. We can assist with furniture, table cloths and trolleys which must be pre-arranged and may incur hire costs. You cannot charge additional entrance to the room to your attendees, paying visitors or for any goods or services offered to visitors of the show, however you may have a donations tin/box for your groups cause within the room (tin shaking is not permitted). You will have already provided a detailed description of the content, floor plan and methodology/what you will be doing and we expect to see this on the day. NB the TMS organisers will inspect your room to ensure it meets our presentation and safety requirements and in some instances you may need to provide proof of insurances? before doors open to the public.

Any individual or modelling group/club may have a pre-paid/booked stall in our second hand sales area. Where, we provide clothed tables and free entry per table on the pertinent day for one person including tea or coffee (maximum 3 tables per stall). Tables are 6ft x 2ft and £20.00 each/per day, you can only sell modelling or modelling, transport, preservation, hobbies associated materials and equipment. No under table selling is permitted and you will be expected to keep all your equipment including yourselves within the 6ft x 5ft /per table plot. The sale of dangerous goods, foods, beverages, alcohol or adult materials is not permitted! Entry is on a first booked and paid for basis annually. The Model Show accept no responsibility for any items sold within this area and will provide the sellers contact details to any person reporting faulty or unacceptable goods or services purchased from a stall holder at our show. TMS do not insure for loss the contents of your stand! Trade stands (EXCEPTING VOLUNTARY GROUPS) cannot use this facility, ANY TRADERS FOUND TO BE DOING SO, WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE SHOW.

January 2016: Lost Property
In sorting out the office boxes we have found a small black pocket note book which had been handed into the front desk at some point over the show weekend, if the owner can email us via this website and tell us what it contains, we will post it back to them.

Please note that some pages may be missing or only partial for a coming months whilst we refresh all the pages, make some administrative changes to the layout and update the content.TMS

Oct 1st – novices modelling zone – Cancellation
Due to several let downs and what appears to have been a general lack of interest or commitment we have taken the decision to replace the envisaged ‘empty tables’ of the novices modelling zone with alternate ‘guaranteed attendance’ exhibits. Much as we would have loved to include this area into the show we cannot risk having an empty space on the day. TMS apologies to anyone who may have been anticipating this section and all we can say for now is that we will try to connect with youth groups again in 2016 in the hope that we can convince some; of the merits of attendance.

26th June – New exhibit
We are pleased to reveal that Liz Marsden and Dave Walker will be staging a stand at this years event. Dave is a renowned builder of large scale locomotives and Liz has gained an envious reputation for painting and lining. Both will be displaying completed and under construction models and will be pleased to discuss techniques and commissions.

Increased IPMS attendance for 2015
Aided by the change of date in 2015 and the growing reputation of the show: we are anticipating a far larger plastic kit section this year with (pending final arrangements) 4 national IPMS groups attending and several specialist traders.

April 3rd – Trench layout to be working model for 2015

We can now announce that after a winter working session: the model will again attend in 2015; but now as a working model railway with a variety of bus and railway vehicles in operation.

March 2015…Two Burnhams for the price of one!
This year we have two layouts based on the terminus station at Burnham-on-sea; in 1:148th and 1:152nd scales. Both are exquisite and aptly show how different modelers using different techniques can interpret their own model form a location. A long time in the planning and a real one of opportunity, we are truly looking forwards to seeing these two miniature masterpieces side by side!

17th Feb-contact button fault
We apologies if you have been trying to contact us recently? Card modelling have a go
Robin Fox has kindly agreed to pass on his skills in card kit modelling and alongside his layout ‘Abbotsbury’ which itself is an excellent exponent of the medium, he will be staging a modelling demonstration where you can try out this interesting branch of modelling for free, and take home the results.

Novices modelling zone – update
We are now hoping to have everything in place to launch our new ‘novice modellers section’ by summer 2015, this will include a complete breakdown of the guidelines, some suggestions as to what you might think of doing and all the instructions, downloadable application forms and entry deadlines information. In essence this is for any new modeller and although aimed at youths it is open to any age (provided your not an accomplished modeller!). Content can be anything that is modelling from scratch built card buildings, plastic kits or radio controlled aircraft and vehicles etc. The only requirements being that it is wholly your own work and that you have built, assembled, or painted it. This does not include craft-work, pottery, sewing, literature or PC virtual modelling except where such is merely an element of the greater model. Models should also be built to a scale which must be stated in the entry description. ‘So get modelling’ and if you want to get a head start and are unsure of a certain thing you can contact us direct via the email button on this website.

First piece of news proper for 2015… we finally after much searching may have a dolls house section? and you would not believe how difficult this has been to include…fingers crossed the 3 exhibits for this year; will inspire more local dolls house enthusiasts to contact us and exhibit their models?
